When we tried our first shot with the Little Brother, we put in a small amount of flash powder over a cannon fuse not knowing what to expect. We lightly held the powder in place with a piece of tissue. The result was awing to say the least. The force drove the Little Brother into the ground about 1 inch and within minutes I received a phone call from a neighbor living ½ a mile away and over a hill in the woods. When I explained what we had done, he laughed so hard, it was hard for him to come out with the words "Can I watch when you do it again?" The Little Brother needed a little cleaning from the powder but looked like new afterward. It has become a regular source of entertainment for us ever since.

to say the least.. its not too smart putting any amount of flash into something like that.. its a good way to get killed..
Peace

I would also love to see some color on the 1 X 2-1/2
And also the 1 X 4" I loved the Silver foil on the 3/4 X 3-1/2 tubes as well.. i don't really like the dull silver look..
But over all AWESOME tubes.. and have been a customer for quite some time and will still keep ordering.
Keep up the good work
Posted by Anonymous on 11/19/2008 22:06:27
We have had more customers request these tubes and have been looking into the colored 1" X 2-1/2" red tubes W/1/8" or 3/32" wall. Thanks for the input

what does the the pinapple hand grenade? can i put bp into it and if i pull the pull pin it goes 6 seconds to boom?
Posted by anonymous on 11/25/2008 12:50:59
NO!
It is a dummy grenade. So it is complete without a working fuse and empty.
Posted by Steve on 11/25/2008 13:12:54
Also sold separately is the spring kits for these to make them fully functional?
Posted by anonymous on 11/27/2008 14:07:06
fully functional action wise. When you add a spring kit to the pineapple grenades you have all the action free.

The smoke STICKS are completely AWESOME. They last forever and the smoke is pretty thick and vibrant. Now, on the other hand no offense but the smoke BALLS are low quality. They last for like 3 seconds and the smoke is really thin. If you could maybe offer another brand of smoke balls that would be sweet. Big Thunder brand I must say is the absolute BEST smoke balls and the ones i got were like 75 cents per 6. they lasted like 20 seconds or something. Lol i no this is more of a wish list though.
Whatever you can do

It'd be great if you sold half inch I.D. tubes (strong spiral or parallel wound) These are great for small rockets. Also, 2'' plastic shells. You should also sells xylene or methylene chloride for sealing the shells. PVC cement works fine but it is thick and sometimes is a hassle to work with. Once again i love the low prices on everything here. ---my favorite supply site.
Thanks

Bottle Rocket Tooling
This set is absolutely cool. We used it with your small red tubes, packed it with a clay nozzle, put in 3ccs of black powder, and topped it off with 0.5ccs of flash powder with a clay stopper. We taped it to a small shred of bamboo stick and stuck a fuse in it. All of this took less than 5 minutes to do.
The result was a "swish--bang" as the rocket went about 100 feet into the air and exploded. The tooling set and tubes are easy to use and great for a fast firework to make.
Thanks.

I bought a second Big Brother Thunder Mug this past July 4th - As I wanted to fire the first one to cap off my first finale (and another for the second).
I put BP in them - 1/2 full of fffg BP, then top it off with Creamora for extra smoke and show.
I brought them to a Pyro event - 2 guys offered to buy my "spare" on the spot - Ha Ha - "I need both of them" I said, but they have since bought their own from the site and are happy with them :)

the bottle rocket tooling is so useful. i did have to sand it down a little bit for the tubes to fit around te base nicely, but now its great. the engines are so consisent- they never fail. also, you can make mini stingers with the tooling if you make a core burner with the smaller spindle and dont put any delay in and then cut off the excess cardboard and drill a vent hole.

1" X 2-1/2" is now available in red!!

The 3/4'' tubes cannot be pounded the slightest bit. I'm looking for affordable rocket tubes. I'm sure you would have a great price on parallel tubes.

With your bottle rocket tooling kit,can you ball mix GOEX BP very fine and use it as the fuel in the tube? Or must you make your own BP
Posted by Robert on 03/31/2009 17:35:18
I would say give it a try!
More then likely it would blow up because shelf BP burns much quicker than home made mill powder. Mill powder is very easy to make and less expensive than Goex BP.
Posted by Steve Gamble on 03/31/2009 17:38:15
Thanks for the info on Goex BP
BP mix, If I'm correct :
75 Potassium nitrate
15 charcoal
10 sulfur
Is this a good ratio for Bottle rocket mix
Due you mix all parts at the same time and ball mill? or what is the best way to mix

I was wondering what kind of Flash charge is the recommended max for the Big Daddy Thunder Mug. I see the description says Black powder or Flash powder, which surprised me, but would love to use this to test out flash just as many people use these to test there BP. Is this possible or was the flash useage in the description a typo? I see the Aluminum Thunder Mug did not recommend flash so I would like to assume using it in the Steel one is ok being that it is stated as such.
Thanks so much!

You can email us at sales@pyrocreations.com and ask for the mug directions. The thundermug directions can be emailed to you and will tell you how to use it and give you an idea on how to use it. We actually filled one to the top with high concussion flash in the middle of nowhere with 10 ft of fuse and drove away. And to our surprise the mug was still intact and no stress fractures or anything. I DO NOT suggest filling even half full but this was only a test to see just how strong the steel mug is. The aluminum can also take flash but the test was not done on it.

Ball mill is the fastest easiest way to mix.
Posted by Steve on 04/22/2009 16:59:51
The little brother thundermug did come with any firing recomendations. Can anyone advise me on how to get the best results and what to exspect? Thanks.
Posted by Tin Ear on 06/02/2009 19:23:43
I found the answear to my own question. I filled the little brother mug about half full with 4F BP. I the rolled tootsie roll shaped wads out of flame retardant cloth. In my case old shirts from tyndale company. Electical workers, welders etc ware them. The good part is there is no flaming newspaper to worry about. The wadding opens up and falls to the ground and can be reused many times. Pure wool socks cut up are also fairly flame retardent. I learned this back in my black powder muzzle loading days. Try it out.

Thanks Steve! I don't think I'm bold enough to fill the mug even half full, I was just hoping I could use this to effectively and relatively safely test different flash mixes that I'm working with. Thanks so much for a real world answer! I'll be e-mailing you shortly.

i bought the 1" by 4" thick paper tubes with end caps for them and i was trying to seal off the bottoms witht he caps but im not sure on what to use as a filler on the bottoms to help seal the caps in fully. now i was told before to use superglue around the edges and then fill it a lil with elmers glue but it never hardeneds. does anyone else know any other alternatives to doing so. i need to the bottoms to be pretty well sealed so it doesnt shoot the cap off when lit? any iinfo please email me at blueangel200@gmail.com or on here thanks matt
Posted by matthew on 08/31/2009 14:05:18
The best way to secure your caps in the tubes is simply Elmers glue. Its a strong, non expensive glue, and is easy to clean up with water. Now, for added strength, try a mix of parafin wax/bentonite clay, approx. 18%/82%, in that order. Heat in a microwave for 1 min intervals until its nice and hot. Keep stirring. You want it pretty hot, to start. Allow it to cool until its starting to get chuncky, and cap off your tubes with this mixture. Also makes the tube ends completely waterproof for those of you out there that are "adventerous". Take care, and Be Safe!

Hi
I really like your tube selection. I use the plain 3/4 x 2 1/8 for nice bombettes. Much easier than loading a round shell. I made "clay plug with fuse in center" tooling which leaves a .300 deep pocket in the bottom end. I mash some comet comp or star comp or both (color changing tail on ascent!)in there, and pack the upper chamber with the usual fun stuff.
Shot out of a 1" mortar they are very nice.
Suggestion-
How 'bout picking up some 1/2 ID spiral wound heavy wall tubes ? - real good for whistles and small rockets & drivers, but they gotta stand up to the pressing operaton.
Thanks!

Hi Steve:
Just wanted you to know that I received your loading directions for the 'thundermug'. I had to try it before the 4th of July.
I put three feet of 1/8th inch cannon fuse (just to play it safe) and approximately 1/2 cup of Hodgdon Triple 7 (FFG) powder. I then covered the powder with a cardboard endcap plug (2 inch) supplied from your website. I then packed in one full sheet of newspaper using a 1 and 1/2 inch dowel and topped that with a 2 inch diameter cardboard plug I made from regular cardboard box.
When it went off it sounded like a howitzer cannon.
This is going to be a great item with the kids come this 4th of July
Thanks,
GM Florino

Set my true colors mug off this weekend. used 3 tablespoons of 4f goex ,then cardboard plug then newspaper packed tight ! WOW, very satisfied with the BOOM ! This will be a hit at our annual show this 4th. Thanks for the fast shipping.

I bought the black powder garrison cannon, followed the instructions that came with it and didn't get anything close to a bang. I didn't get emailed instructions on it, didn't know that was available. What do i need to do or buy to make the thing go boom? I'd like to get whatever I need by the 4th so any help will be VERY much appreciated! All I loaded it with was black powder and the wadding and fuse.
Posted by Richard on 06/28/2010 17:54:50
you have to use a 3f or 4f powder like goex. do not use a pinacle or similaar type powder. try 2 or 3 tbls. at first. pack tight with plug then newspapper or old sock. you'll get what you want. be safe !
Posted by Don on 06/30/2010 11:33:20
Thanks for the fast shipping, the fuse is great ! I have one complaint, the smoke cannisters are only good for about 20 sec. (I tried 2 of them). Not near a minute as advertised.
Posted by don on 07/02/2010 12:55:05
your end plugs on the paper tubes are great.. easily fit into the tubes for which they are advertised.
thanks for quick shipping and quality goods.

What is the issue with Pyrodex powder that results in your instructions say it won't work in your cannons?
I have some Hodgson RS which is an ffg equivalent that I had planned to use up.

Can anyone tell me which mortar cannon is the loudest? Is it the lower profile Thundermug style or the taller Sonic Boom models? Any recommendations on best performing powder(s)? Thanks much.
