This little mug is excellent. It is very durable and can produce a VERY loud boom. Quality is also excellent.

Takes some figuring out but well worth it.
Took me a while to get the hang of getting a nice loud crack out of this thing but now that I have done so, it is a lot of fun to do. The idea is to pack the powder as tightly as you can. You need to make yourself a ram rod, I used a 1/2" wooden dowel, then you put the powder it, and pack it down with newsprint as tight as you can and light the fuse and wait for the BOOM!

Very loud boom
this is how I to get the loud BOOM
1)insert the fuse
2)fill the thunder mug to the brim with powder, I'm using pyrodex RS, FFG equivalent.
3)fold one square of toilet paper twice to get a square, place on top of the mug.
4)use a dowel to push the TP into the barrel and compress the powder.
5)use a wooden mallet and the dowel to REALLY pack the powder. this was the #1 thing I was doing wrong to start. the tighter you pack it the louder it gets.
6) continue packing TP hard into the barrel until it is totally full.
If you packed the thunder mug tight enough, when it goes off the TP will be shredded and gently floating to the ground. If your getting hard little disks of TP that stayed together then you didn't pack it tight enough.
