I bought one of these as a fire unit for "test" items. I was pretty apprehensive about the 500' range. I got very consistent results at 653' with fresh batteries. There is a pretty simple safety on the unit - a sliding button cover on the key fob. I have yet to see how well it plays with other units around as the coding is permanent. Tried 3 matches in parallel on one queue with no issues. It does have a weak point, my assistant knocked the unit over and when attempting to catch it managed to break the antenna on the remote unit with ease. I found a replacement on the shelf at Radio Shack for $5, not a big deal. For the price a great buy.

A Flawless Firing System!
I expected this $35 unit it to be built like a cheap, flimsy Childs toy made in China. I was pleasantly suppressed to see that it was built much better than I expected. (Being a first timer, my only reverence is that I did not find the website clear as to which type of e-matches to use. I ordered the uncoated e-matches when I should of ordered the Nichrome Igniter clips. Hopefully PC'ns will make a video for us Newbies to help us do it right the first time) A after leaving it on overnight, in a field almost 200 yards away, it went off without a hitch. Seeing the finale going off on the horizon sealed a great ending to my second family fireworks show, and I owe it all in part to this unit
